DAY 35: OFF DAY

So today was an off day from INSANITY but I still managed to get out there and go on a short hike up Runyon Canyon. Runyon Canyon is an awesome short hike because it doesn't take too long, but the elevation change is big! Today was the first time that instead of walking the hike, I tried to run it all. I went up the steep side and ran down the not so steep side. It was awesome.

After finishing I decided to take the rest of the day off and do my fit test tomorrow with my first day of MAX INTERVAL TRAINING. No reason to mess around with the scheduled workouts. They are there for a reason.

That's all for today! Tomorrow we'll have a new Weigh In and I'll be starting Phase 2!

DAY 34: CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE

Alright! The end of my recovery week is here!

Today I spent a lot of the day getting an arm workout by stripping paint off of some chairs I got and sanding them as well. After about 6 hours of working on the chairs, I ate some food, and then it was time for my workout: CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE.

Today was the last day of working out for my recovery week. I had a really good workout today. I pushed hard and worked up an awesome sweat. When I was finished, I had my recovery drink, a delicious smoothie, and rested for a little while. Then, as I was watching TV, I decided to do some of the C-sit position exercises from the CARDIO ABS workout. Once I was finished, I decided to do some deltoid pushups or triangle pushups. After a set of 25 or so I got up and did about 60 seconds of wall sits. Then I did some Feifer Scissors from AB RIPPER X. Then I got up and did some Steam Engines. I continued doing core exercises for about 15 more minutes. Once I was finished, I felt great, stretched then took a nice hot shower before bed.

I decided to not take a day off tomorrow and I'm going to do the fit test. That way, I won't be pounding my body on Day 1 of Phase 2: MAX INTERVAL TRAINING by doing the Fit Test and the MAX INTERVAL CIRCUIT workout. I also might go on the hardcore hike, run and rock climbing adventure I did twice last week on Tuesday.

SO that means Fit Test 3 will be tomorrow and Tuesday we'll start with MAX INTERVAL TRAINING! Here we go people! Time to Dig Deeper!

DAY 33: CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE

Another awesome day today!

Woke up this morning and joined a bunch of friends on a leisurely hike up the Escondido Canyon in Malibu all the way to a beautiful, algae covered, 150 ft waterfall. Rock climbed all the way up to the top for an amazing view of the canyon all the way out into the Pacific Ocean. It was amazing! After hiking back down and driving home, I did my CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE workout for the day.

It was great! My body was a little lethargic to start the workout because of the hike we did earlier, but once I pushed through that initial laziness, I had a great workout! This one is growing on me! It's slow pace tricks my mind into thinking I'm not working as hard but by the end of the workout, certain muscle groups are burning with joy! It's awesome.

Only a couple of more days of recovery week left, and then its the Week 5 Weigh In and the start of the second and final phase of INSANITY: MAX INTERVAL TRAINING!!!

DAY 32: CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE

Today I had a packed day of errands and stuff but I was still able to fit my CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE workout into my busy Friday. It was great but my body was still very tired from the Parkour class I took last night. Muscles are sore on my body that I didn't even know existed. It's amazing!

Tomorrow morning I'm going on another hike with my friend up in Escondido in Malibu. It should be sweet! It's not as tough a climb as the Eaton Canyon one so it should be a nice start to a wonderful Saturday. Later on in the day, I'll be doing the CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE workout! I love this recovery week!

NEXT WEEK WE PUSH IT TO THE MAX!!!!!

DAY 31: CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE

Recovery Day 3

Today I woke up and did my Core Cardio and Balance workout. It was awesome. It's much easier to do when you don't go on a 5 hour hike before. I had a wonderful workout this morning and really felt great!

Then at night, I went to a Parkour class. Parkour is the art of overcoming any obstacle within your path by adapting to your environment. In simpler terms, it is getting from point A to point B in the fastest, most efficient way possible. This class was awesome! The warm up was really good and the stretches felt amazing. Then we did some exercises where we went across the floor using bi-pedal or quadri-pedal movement which were really good for my stabilizing muscles. Then came the fun part which was practicing some vault skills to get over obstables.
It was so cool because it was a fun, supportive environment where I could SAFELY practice moves and skills to gain confidence before taking it outside.

After an awesomely active day, I'm going to bed.

DAY 30: CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE

Today was Recovery Day 2....yeah RIGHT!

In the morning , after breakfast, I went on a 5 hour hike up through Eaton Canyon running, rock climbing and climbing up through waterfalls. IT WAS AMAZING! What a great place! We hiked upstream for 3 hours, took a short break, then came back down.

Once I was home, I was able to eat a nice meal and rest a little, then I did my workout.

It's amazing how much his workout burns some of my muscles. The deep slow exercises really really work my body well! I enjoy it but I really wanna get started on my MAX INTERVALS!

DAY 29: CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE

Today was the first day of my recovery week and the first day of doing CORE CARDIO AND BALANCE!! It was an interesting workout....very different from the other INSANITY workouts I have done so far. It's going to be interesting to see how my body reacts to this recovery week and then next week when everything gets pushed up to MAX INTERVAL TRAINING!

After I finished my workout, my friend Tristan invited me to go on a hike. Since it was a beautiful day, I accepted his offer. We ended up going on a "hike" which was running through canyon terrain, jumping from rock to rock, crossing fallen trees and rock climbing up the face of Eaton Canyon! We made it all the way up to the third waterfall and then ran all the way back down. My friend is on his recovery week for P90X so we both decided to keep pushing this week by hiking. Looks like the bug caught on because we are hiking up again tomorrow morning and then in the afternoon I'll be doing my recovery workout.

I'm excited for this recovery week and I can't wait to kick it up a notch for the last 4 weeks of this great program.
